- ELIZABETHTON — William J. "Bill" Allen, 97, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012, in the Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late William Ben and Nancy Jane Treadway Allen.
He was a retired Dairy Farmer having operated the Allen Dairy farm for 47 years. He was a member of the Carter County Soil conservation District, The Dairymen's Incorporated and the East Tennessee Horseman Association.
Mr. Allen was a member of the Siam Baptist Church and the Upper Room Sunday School Class.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, June Reo Grindstaff Allen, November 4, 2008; by a Great Grandson: Austin Allen; Four Sisters: Mary Nave, Maude Coley, Olive Allen and Bernice Morrell; and Two Brothers: Frank and John T. Allen.
Survivors include Three Daughters: Violette Parker, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Anne VanHuss and Marilyn "Mary" Elliott and husband, Ray, all of Elizabethton; Two Sons & Daughters-in-Law: Charles H. & Myra Allen and William John & Norine Allen, all of Elizabethton; 12 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; several nieces, nephews & Cousins.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Siam Baptist Church with the Rev. Burl Sluder and Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Nave Cemetery with the Rev. Tyler Eiland officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Bill Anderson. Active Pallbearers will be: Guy Allen, Garland Allen, Jamie Allen, Jordan Elliott, Scott Elliott, Steven Parker, Allen Parker, Bob Campbell, Ronnie Hazelwood and Lindsey Rash. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ben Whitehead, Ray Elliott, Ben Allen, Allen Goodwin, Charles "Blue" Treadway, Bill Anderson and his Church Family.
The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the Nurses & CNAs of Life Care Center and Dr. Vivian Clark.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Siam Baptist Church or the donor's favorite charity.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the Siam Baptist Church. Friends may also call at the residence of any of the children.
