- MOUNTAIN CITY — Mildred Nichols Graybeal, age 76, of Mountain City, TN, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, August 3, 2011.
Mildred was born June 9, 1935, to William Arthur Nichols and Bonnie Dickens Nichols and raised in Johnson County, TN. Ms. Graybeal was of the Christian faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers: Bill and John Nichols; and sisters: Edna Nichols Osborne and Ruth Nichols Jardin; one infant son; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole Cress.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Brenda Graybeal Greene and husband, Jack, of Jonesborough, TN, Janet Graybeal Guinn and husband, David, of Gray, TN, and Donna Graybeal Watson and husband, David, of Meadowview, VA; Grandchildren: Amy Greene Garner and husband, Jeff, of Dandridge, TN, Taylor Guinn and Logan Guinn, of Gray, TN, and Justin Hal Nelson, of Meadowview, VA; one great grandson: Jax Garner, of Dandridge, TN. Additional survivors are: brother, William A. Nichols Jr. and wife, Dorothy, of Mountain City, TN; sister, Lois Nichols Hagens and husband, Danny, of Coatesville, PA; very special sisters-in-law: Charlotte Nichols, of Winston-Salem, NC, and Helen Graybeal Price, of Johnson City, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Ms. Graybeal will always be remembered for her kind and giving spirit and her fun loving personality. She adored her family and made many sacrifices through the years to see that their needs were met.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Keith Cook and MSHA Hospice, Signature Health Care and CHOICES community based services for assisting with the care of their mother during her illness.
Funeral services for Mildred Nichols Graybeal will be conducted Saturday, August 6, 2011, at 8:00 p.m. from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Mr. Ronnie Manuel officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
Graveside service and interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. in Mountain View Cemetery on Sunday, August 7, 2011. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and son-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Keith Cook, Signature Home Health and Lisa Pollard.
