- ELIZABETHTON — Evelyn Vera Timbs Helton, 74, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Emma Brewer Timbs. Evelyn was a 1955 graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Borderview Christian Church and the Ladies Bible Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Anderson Helton, June 3, 1999; and by two sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include a daughter & son-in-law: Debra & James Leslie, Pikeville, Kentucky; A son & daughter-in-law: Robert & Peggy Timbs, Elizabethton; Four Grandchildren: Heather, Ashlee, Mallory and Melissa; Two Great Grandchildren: Nicholas and Joey; Seven Sisters: Dawn Grubbs & husband, Richard, Church Hill, Jean Garrett & husband, Joe, Abingdon, Virginia, Retha Williams and husband, George, Hampton, Thelma Taylor and husband, Vaughn, and Janice Stanberry & husband, Larry, all of Elizabethton, Anna Bare, Bluff City, and Sue Shmidt and husband, David, Bristol, Tn.; Two Brothers: Houston Timbs and wife, Betty, Elizabethton, and Harold Timbs, Johnson City; Several Nieces & Nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Kirk Langston, Minister, officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, will be: Timothy Timbs, John Leslie, Bernie Beringer, John Michael Bare, Mike Williams and Timmy Forinash. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dylan Frazier, Bobby Joe Hall, Kevin Whitehead, Phillip Potter, Kim Sprinkle from Greystone Health Care and Alex from Bristol Regional Medical Center and her church family.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law: Robert & Peggy Timbs, 1461 Riverview Drive, Elizabethton.
