- ELIZABETHTON - Geraldine "Gerrie" Hardin, age 86, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her loving family, whom she was ready to join, on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, from the Ivy Hall Nursing Home.
Gerrie was a native of Carter County and was a daughter of the late Ollie G. Hardin and Tina Matheson Hardin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Hardin and a brother, Charles Hardin.
Gerrie retired from the Defense Intelligence Agency at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia on December 1, 1989, after 30 years of service. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Elizabethton, where she was a member of the Volunteer Sunday School Class. She was an Elizabethton High School, Class of 1947 graduate and loved to play scrabble with her friend, Betty Adcock.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sisters, Frances Elick and husband George, of Grants Pass, OR and Bea Hudswell, of Greeneville, SC; two brothers, Bill "Butch" Hardin and wife Aree, Bowie, MD and Tony Hardin and wife Judy, of San Jose, CA; one special great nephew, Nicholas Hardin; her caregivers, Dick and Glenda Oatman, of Elizabethton; her close friends, Pam Campbell, Betty Adcock, Cussie Barnett, Patty White, and Ruth White, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Ms. Geraldine "Gerrie" Hardin will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Nathan Jennings, officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 AM on Saturday.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home - Nurses and CNAs, and Avalon Hospice, for all the love and care extended to Gerrie and her family.
