- HAMPTON — Maxie Johnson Bowers, age 79, formerly of 107 Shook Branch Rd., Hampton, died Friday, August 26, 2005 at Stockton Residential Home, Roan Mountain.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Fannie Cornett Fulton. Mrs. Bowers was a member of Union Baptist Church and was retired from North American Rayon Corporation.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Herman Johnson, second husband, Floyd Bowers, and three sisters, Elsie Fulton, Ruby Honeycutt and Helen Pearce.
Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Andrew and Marsha Ann Johnson, grandson, Aaron Ezekiel Johnson, all of Hampton, three sisters, Ruth Adcox, Elizabethton, Shirley Hardin and Virginia McGee, both of North Carolina, and two brothers, Ken Fulton and Bill Fulton, both of North Carolina; special friends from Stockton Residential Home, June Henson, Katina Street, Bunny Frakes, Rena Lee Whitehead, Maradell Hughes, Diana Stockton, Leroy and LouElla Stockton and Carolyn Tester. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Bowers will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2005 in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Mickey Beal and Rev. Haskel Ingram officiating. Music will be under the direction of Tammy Jewett Simerly and Bill Anderson. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel or at the residence, 107 Shook Branch Road, Hampton at anytime.
The graveside service and interment will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2005 in Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jim Hathaway, Richard Waddlington, James Smith, Earl Pearce, Joe Depew, Shelton Lewis, Dallas Isenhour, Randy Smith and Sam Colbaugh. Honorary pallbearers will be Marty Cable, Mark Cole, Billy Joe Campbell, Don O'Quinn and members of Union Baptist Church. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are requested to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 P.M. Tuesday.
