Dovie was born to Elizabeth before she married John Deloach, who was not the father. She was shown living with her grandparents, Joel and Mary E. Beck, in 1880 Carter County, TN census, listed as their granddaughter. She possibly had to live with them until she was 18. She married John H. Hardin in about 1898.
The 1900 Carter County, TN census has this listing:

She was member of Valley Forge Methodist Church. Pall bearers were Stanley Heaton, Ernie Deloach, Cecil Hardin, Luther Hardin & Ottie Hardin, Ben H. Williams, Sr., Jack Kennedy & Ray Johnson. Note: Aunt Dovie had dimentia, Betty remembers her talking to herself.
Erroneously listed as David A. Beck, 2 year old male, in the 1870 Carter County, TN census.
