- Maude Treadway Nidiffer, 87, 1475 Highway 91, Elizabethton, died Sunday,
August 11, 2002, at the residence of her sister, June Estep Benson, 485
Garrison Hollow Road, Elizabethton, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Nidiffer was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late
Charlie Harrison and Sallie Gay Nave Treadway. She was also preceded in
death by her husband, Jess Cole Nidiffer, February 9, 1977; a brother, Ira
Treadway; an infant brother, Junior Treadway; a nephew, Jack Ray Treadway; a
nephew-in-law, the Rev. Johnny Combs; two step-sons, Robert Nidiffer and Jess
Lynn Nidiffer; and a step-daughter, Beryl Williams.
Mrs. Nidiffer was a member of Charity Hill Free Will Baptist Church. She
was a retired employee of East Tennessee Undergarment Company.
Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, June Estep Benson and Robert
Benson, Elizabethton; a brother and sister-in-law, Eston and Frances Nell
Treadway, Elizabethton; a step-son and his wife, Terry and Earnestine
Nidiffer, Anchorage, Alaska; a sister-in-law, Lorine Treadway, Elizabethton;
a niece and her husband, Jane Combs Butler and Howard Butler, Elizabethton;
a nephew and his wife, Jesse Bennick and Joyce Treadway, Elizabethton; a
niece-in-law, Diane Treadway, Elizabethton; four great-nephews, Jamie Combs,
Jody Combs, Brandon Treadway and Brian Treadway, all of Elizabethton; one
great-niece, Charli Treadway, Elizabethton; and two great-grand-nieces,
Millicent Danielle Combs and Yasmine Treadway, both of Elizabethton.
Several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-
grandchildren also survive.
