- ELIZABETHTON – Emitt Arnold, 81, 661 Swift Hollow Road, Mountain City, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mr. Arnold was a Johnson County native and a son of the late Kelly and Cliffie Phillips Arnold. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Arnold was a member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church, Mountain City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Grace Arnold, on Sept. 17; and one sister, Hester Snyder. Survivors include one son, Steve Arnold, Apopka, Fla.; four brothers, Fayette Arnold, Leavie Arnold, Dean Arnold and Danny Arnold, all of Mountain City; six sisters, Rina Brown, Abingdon, Va., Nell Gallager, Johnson City, June Smith, Bristol, Va., Lula Bell Wallace, Essex, Md., Inez Wallace, Zionville, N.C., and Vean Reynolds, Charlotte, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Emitt Arnold will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, from the chapel of Henson Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Shephard and the Rev. Clyde Campbell officiating. Pallbearers will be Van Arnold, Clint Howard, John Henry Arnold, Earl Arnold, J.D. Arnold and J.R. Arnold. Interment will follow in the Reece Memorial Cemetery.
