  Notes	From Albert Grindstaff: John H. "Chimney Builder"'s father, Isaac Grindstaff, died when John was just four years old. John was taken in by John and Easter Heaton Stout to be reared. Easter Heaton was John H. Grindstaff's aunt, the sister of his mother, Mary Heaton. Johnson County Court Records show that John Stout and Easter Heaton were married on 08 Mar 1838. John married first Clara Arney, and the Grindstaff Family are the direct Descendents of Clara. After Clara died about 1891, Mary Stout, the daughter of John and Easter Heaton Stout, moved in with John "Chimney Builder" Grindstaff. John and Mary were cousins. There is no record available of their marriage, however, no children were born to this union. Note: The census and marriage records do not support the above family lore from Albert Grindstaff. Mary Emily Stout, the daughter of John and Easter Stout and from Tennessee, married Alexander Elihu Shown on 9 Apr 1876. They were still married in 1900.
