- Mrs. Brenda Sue Adams, 65, formerly of 226 Apple Tree Lane, Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness.
Mrs. Adams was the daughter of the late Guy and Helen Christine Russell Treadway and was a native of Carter County. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Adams. Mrs. Adams was a member of Charity Hill Freewill Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Adams is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Johnny Sams, Elizabethton; two grandsons, Chris Sams and his wife Nina, Bluff City; Johnny Sams II, Elizabethton; three great-grandchildren, Chelsea Sams and Dylan Sams, both of Bluff City; Johnny Sams, III, Elizabethton; three sisters, Doris Treadway, Cathy Kent and her husband, Ron, Teresa Ballard and her husband, Ray, all of Elizabethton; two brothers, Tommy Treadway and his wife Barbara, Johnson City and Larry and Donna Treadway, Watauga. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Adams will be conducted on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at 7:00 PM at the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton, with Rev. Carl Grindstaff, Rev. Steve Burleson and Rev. Tim Gouge officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 — 7:00 PM on Tuesday prior to the service and at the home of her daughter, Penny Sams, 226 Apple Tree Lane, Elizabethton, 543-1357, at other times.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Ballard, Chris Sams, Keith Treadway, Jessie Treadway, Brandon Treadway, Tommy Sams, Guy Sams and Mickey Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Hermitage Health Center and Adventa Hospice. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
