- Ray W. Williams, 89, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009, in the Hillview Health Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late A.V. & Sarah Sadie Elliott Williams. He was a graduate of Unaka High School and attended Steed College of Johnson City.
He was a retired Machinist from Bristol Compressors. Mr. Williams served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Williams was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church, where he had served as Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, Trustee and Deacon for several years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Fannon Williams, November 17, 2003; by a son, James Williams, in 1970; four brothers: Roy, Twin brother Clay, Jones and Herman Williams; and Three Sisters: Gladys Williams, Ruth Longmire and June Perry.
Survivors include a son: Billy Ray Williams, Johnson City; A daughter: Kathryn Williams, of Virginia; Several Nieces & Nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bruce Hendrich and Rev. Bob Polk officiating.
Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be Deacons of Oak Street Baptist Church. Honorary Pallbearers will be his church family.
The family would like to express a special Thank You to the staff of Hillview Health Center for their excellence care of Ray.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
