- Gilbert L. "Gil" Helton, 79, Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 27th, 2003 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Somerset, Kentucky.
He was born June 25th, 1923 in Pulaski County Kentucky, a son of the late Ebb Helton and Mary Myrtle Lowry.
He was a retired insurance agent for Prudential Life Insurance Co., member of Burnside Masonic Lodge No. 634 F &AM, a member of Scottish Rite 32nd degree, of Valley of Cincinnati, Ohio and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Somerset, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife, Alpha Peggy (Tolley) Helton,
whom he married on December 10th, 1951 in Georgetown, Kentucky;
two daughters, Ruby Lee Helton Reeser Vedar and Vickie Lynn (and Michael) Cornell;
one brother, Jesse T. Helton, Dixie Bend Community;
four grandchildren,
six great-grandchildren and a godson, James F. Cornell.
He was preceded in death by his parents;
one brother, Carl R. Helton;
one sister, Gladys E. Helton Miller Hill.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 31st, 2003 at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother James Merkle officiating.
Burial will be in Sloans Valley Cemetery, Burnside, Kentucky. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 31st, 2003 at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to God's Food Pantry or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
