- ELIZABETHTON — Mrs. Nora Grace Lipford, age 81, of 128 Butler Hardin Road, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2008, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness.
She was a native of Carter County and was a daughter of the late Rhudy and Rosa Deloach Heaton. She was a member of the Siam Baptist Church and was a former employee of the J.C. Penny Co. and a homemaker. Mrs. Lipford was a 1947 graduate of Hampton High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Heaton Love, and two brothers, John Heaton and Stanley Heaton.
Survivors include her husband of forty-one years, Charles Lipford, of the home; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews including a special niece whom she raised and lived with her, Betty Lipscomb of Lexington, KY; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bernice Roulstone of Orlando, Florida, Lucille Heaton, Jessie and Carroll Montgomery, Gary and Nancy Lipford, Jimmy and Joyce Lipford, and Gene Smith all of Elizabethton; and a special friend, Juanita Ellison, of Elizabethton.
The funeral service for Mrs. Nora Grace Lipford will be conducted at 2:00 PM. on Tuesday, November 11, 2008, in the Chapel of Peace of the Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Jack Roddy and Rev. Adam Polk officiating. The eulogy will be given by Becky Raulston. The music will be under the direction of Robin Montgomery and Bill Anderson. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 11, 2008, from noon until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service in the chapel or you may call at the residence, 128 Butler Hardin Road, Elizabethton, anytime.
The committal service and entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be her nephews, Gary Lipford, Chris Lipford, Chipper Montgomery, Keith Raulston, Oran Campbell, David Smith and David McKinney. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Heaton, K.O. Gentry, Bud Farmer, Jerry Smith, Bruce Wiltshire, Earl Wayne Gentry, Harry Ford, Members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class at Siam Baptist Church and her friends at Siam Baptist Church.
A special "Thank you" is extended to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the ICU at Sycamore Shoals Hospital for all their care and love extended to the Lipford family.
