- MOUNTAIN CITY - Miss Georgia Marie Johnson, age 99, of Mountain City, passed away Monday, February 6, 2006, at Watauga Medical Center. Miss Johnson was a lifelong resident of Johnson County and was a daughter of the late Arthur Glenn and Oma Payne Johnson. She was a retired school teacher and taught in the Johnson County School System and Bristol Tennessee School System. She was a member of the Johnson County Retired Teachers Association, member of the Johnson County Historical Society, and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. Georgia was an accomplished artist and author. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Johnson; and a brother, Orville Johnson. Survivors included her cousins of the Johnson and Payne Families and her many friends. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church with the service to follow at 1 p.m. with James Hutchinson, Minister, and the Rev. Larry Rye officiating. Pallbearers will be men of First United Methodist Church. The interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Condolences may be made online at www.mountaincityfuneralhome.com.
