- JOHNSON CITY — William Paul "Bill" Grindstaff, 88, of Johnson City, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at his home.
He was a native of Washington County, son of the late Serena Bell Grindstaff Grindstaff. He was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Viet Nam having proudly served in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force retiring in 1969. He attended Keystone Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Margie Ledwell Grindstaff of the home; children, Kenneth Hodge, Barbara Furchess, Sharon Boles, Cindy Abel, and Janice Swanner; thirteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; one great great grandson; a special grandson, Chad Abel; a special niece, Norma Scott.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m.
A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, April 4, 2016, at 10:45 a.m. at the Mountain Home National Cemetery under the direction of a VA Chaplain. The Boone Dam VFW and the Tennessee National Guard will accord military honors. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
