- Christine Virginia Hamby Hicks, 74, of Gray, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at her residence.
Born in Gray, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Callie Dowell Hamby.
She was a loving wife and mother who dedicated her life to her husband and children. She was a very caring person to everyone who met her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Devon Hicks; sisters: Bonnie Cash, Inez Caudle; brothers: Wiley Hamby, Simon Hamby, David Hamby, Charles Hamby and Wade Hamby.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Roy William Hicks, of Gray; four daughters: Pam Feathers, of Johnson City, Cynthia Ann Torbett, of Gray, Peggy Laws, of Johnson City, and Nancy Marie Cox, of Gray; two sons: James William Hicks, of Gray, and Roy Allen Hicks, of Johnson City; sister: Thelma Ruland, of PA; brother: Luke Hamby, of Johnson City; grandchildren: Chris Campbell, Shannon Buchannon, Scott Hicks, Sheri Hicks, Clinton Torbett, Wesley Laws, Hannah Cox, James Hicks, Cody Hicks and Noah; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday at 8:00 PM in the Sunrise chapel with Rev. Adam Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM prior to the service. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Mrs. Hicks grandsons. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 to go in procession.
