- MOUNTAIN CITY — Verna Ella Main, age 83, of Mountain City, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at her residence.
Mrs. Main was born on March 18, 1924, in Johnson County to the late Thomas and Polly Smith Stout. She liked to work in her garden and attended Hammons Chapel Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ulysses Main; two daughters, Mary Ella Main and Mary Elizabeth Main; six sisters, Pearl Howard, Thelma Potter, Atrie Potter, Evia Winters, Mina Stout and Mary Stout; and four brothers, Roy Stout, Will Stout, John Stout and Bob Edward Stout.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice Massey, of Oxford, PA, and Helen Reid and husband, Tom, of Mountain City; two sons, Edward Main and wife, Brenda, of Mountain City, and Paul Main and wife, Dawn, of West Grove, PA; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2007, at Mountain City Funeral Home with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Mike Smith, Minister, officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Bruce Abkes and Dr. Timothy Zajonc. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
