- Ruth Eller Clarke, age 99, of Appalachian Christian Village died Sunday, September 17, 2006 at Appalachian Christian Village following an extended illness.
A native of Johnson County, TN, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Eliza Eller.
Mrs. Clarke was a member of Berea Free Will Baptist Church and was a school teacher at Stratton School. She received her master’s degree from ETSU in 1950. Mrs. Clarke was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ewel Clarke in 1946; one sister, Olive Humphreys; four brothers, Bruce, Fred, Howard, and Ray Eller. Survivors include two sisters; Kate Eller Shupe, Mountain City, TN, and Maurene Eller Robinson, Wilmington, DE; one brother and sister in-law Jack and June Eller, Johnson City, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Clarke will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 20th in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Stout officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Friends may call at the residence of a brother, Jack Eller, 127 Ridgelane Dr., Johnson City, at anytime.
The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Active Pallbearers will be Jack Eller, Kevin Eller, Dawn Shupe, Richard Shupe, Tom Milhorn and Robby Eller.
