Richard E. Fletcher. . .
Richard E. Fletcher, age 76 of Butler, Sink Valley, died unexpectedly while at work on the farm Thursday at 2:15 p.m. He was a native of Johnson County, son of the late James and Alice Holden Fletcher. He was a farmer and member of the Sink Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gladys Fletcher, Butler; two sons, R.E. Fletcher, Jr., Hammond, Ind. and Ralph Fletcher, also of Hammond; five daughters, Mrs. Irene Collaze, and Mrs. Ruby Long, both of Hammond, Ind., Mrs. Dora Long, Maryville, Mrs. Reta White, and Mrs. Pearl Trivett, both of Highpoint, N.C.; three brothers, Noah Fletcher and Dorsey Fletcher, both of Butler and Phillip Fletcher of Unicoi; five sisters, Mrs. Lona Stout and Mrs. Rosa Stout, both of Butler, Mrs. Mollie Stout, Milligan College, Mrs. Vertie Hartley, Elizabethton and Mrs. Bessie Rhymer of Johnson City; also nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from Sink Valley Baptist Church Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dolphus Foister and Rev. Burl Garland officiating. Pallbearers were Edd Stout, Howard Stout, Edd Arnold, Karl Pleasant, Millard Fletcher, Raymond Stout, Allen Birchfield and Joe Hackney.
