Pfc. ROY TOLLEY
The body of Pfc. Roy Tolley, who was killed in France on August 11, 1944, will arrive in Johnson City Friday on Sourthern Train No. 46 and will be taken to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Tolley, Route 1, Hampton, Friday afternoon.
Tolley was 20 at the time of his death. He served in the infantry after his entry into the service on March 16, 1943 and went overseas in May, 1944.
Before entering the army he was a farmer in the Fairview community of Carter County and belonged to the Fairview Baptist Church. Tolley attended school at Fairview School.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Fairview Baptist Church with the Rev. John Buchanan in charge. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military honors rendered by the American Legion post and the VFW of Elizabethton.
Survivors include his parents; eight brothers, Lloyd, Lawrence, George, Lewis, Blake and Donald of Hampton and Robert and Ray of Bluff City; two sisters, Mrs. Lurla Bailey and Miss Nellie Tolley of Route 1, Hampton.
