- Herbert "Herb" Moody, 78, 4302 Hwy. 321, Butler, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2007 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a native of Butler, Tennessee and was the son of the late Dallas and Martha Moody.
He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Holland Kyte, mothers-in-law, Ola and Aradia Kyte, and brothers-in-law, Bill Kyte, Maynard Clark, and Kenneth Miller.
Mr. Moody was retired from Great Lakes Research Facility and was previously employed by Bemberg. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who served his community throughout his life. Also, he greatly enjoyed passing his time with his only grandchild and loved to spend his time fishing with his close friends and enjoying the beauty of Watauga Lake with his family. He was a member of Little Milligan Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Vee Moody, one son, Norman Dale Moody, and a granddaughter, Callie Renee Moody. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Bud Main of Butler and brothers and sisters-in-law, D.L. and Kaye Moody of Iron Mountain Retreat (Stoney Creek), Richard and Kay Moody, Bob and Sue Moody, and James and Patsy Moody of Butler, as well as his sisters-in-law, Edith Clark and Charlotte Miller, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 30th at 8 pm, in Memorial Funeral Chapel, with Mr. Nick Bradshaw officiating. Visitation will be immediately prior from 6 to 8 pm.
Active pallbearers will be Grant Sharpe, Shane Moody, Farrell Main, Marsha Moody, Dallas "Chip" Moody, and Robbie Moody. Honorary pallbearers will be special fishing friends Herb Campbell, Bill Vandyke, David Mills, Rick Long, Chester Ferguson, John Holland, David Pinkard, Larry Saylers, Jim Ensor, Charles Yoakem, and Robert Yoakem, and special friends Lester Reece, Doug Hatley, Paul Campbell, Leland Moody, Doodle White, and Bill Finney.
Graveside and interment services will be conducted at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 31th at Lakeview Cemetery. Family, friends and pallbearers will assemble at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m.
