- ELIZABETHTON — Ruby Webb, 88, 2815 Siam Road, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 16, 2007, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Webb was a native of Carter County and was the daughter of the late Allen and Rebecca Heaton Lovelace.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Burton Webb; sisters, Essie Webb and Grace Lovelace; and a nephew, Willie Webb.
Mrs. Webb was a graduate of Hampton High School and Milligan College. She was a charter member of Beck Mountain Baptist Church, where she served as secretary for many years. During the summers she was a local missionary for the Watauga Baptist Association, setting up Bible Schools in Carter and Johnson Counties.
She taught at Hampton Elementary School for 2 years, and retired from Valley Forge Elementary School, where she had taught for 41 years. She loved gardening and canning, and she loved to share the results with others. She loved her church and children.
Mrs. Webb is survived by her son, Phillip Webb and his wife, Bonnie, a grandson, David Hilbert and his wife, Brandi, a granddaughter, Kimberly Hilbert, great grandchildren, Kimberly Alexis and Hallie, all of Elizabethton TN; nieces, Margie Walker, Jacksonville, FL, Janetta Webb, Elizabethton, Dorothy Ann Campbell, Buladean, NC; nephews, Dr. Steve Webb and his wife, Donna, Johnson City, James Webb, Bakersville, NC; special friends, Martin Nave, Erma Morris, Lucy and Jim Hoff, Wilma Colbaugh and Desiree Gentry, all of Elizabethton.
A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Webb will be conducted Monday, February 19, 2007, at 2:00 PM at the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton, with Rev. Doug Ranshaw and Rev. John Perkins officiating. Music will be under the direction of her granddaughter, Kimberly Hilbert, soloist. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 12:00-2:00 PM Monday, prior to the service. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Dr. Steve Webb, James Webb, Claude Guinn, Kenny Webb, Terry Lovelace and Ed Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be David Hilbert, Kimberly Hilbert, Clint Webb, Anthony Webb, Hal Campbell, Chris Campbell, Edie Dykes, Steve Kyviakidis and Keith Merritt.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Angela Tanner, Christie Pohto, Jennifer Burleson, Judy Vines, Anna Deal, Debbie Stout, Julie Combs and all the staff of Adventa Hospice Services for the love and special care shown to Mrs. Webb and the family during her illness.
