His death notice was provided by James Cable of Butler. When the Watauga Dam was built,the TVA inventoried all cemeteries that would be covered, attempted to contact the next of kin for those buried in those cemeteries, and made arrangements for the remains to be reinterred elsewhere. Arthur Cable advised TVA that he was David's grandson, and directed that his remains be reinterred in the Whitehead Cemetery. This cemetery is located near where the Cable Cemetery was located, and is on high ground overlooking Watauga Lake. It is between Little Milligan Community and Elk Mills Community, on US Highway 321. It is one of the prettiest spots on Watauga Lake.
