- BUTLER — Effie Deloach Garland, 79, 15641 Highway 67 West, Butler, died Thursday, September 20, 2007, in the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Nat and Pearl Whaley Deloach. She was a retired employee of Levi Strauss, Mountain City. She was a member of the Little Doe Baptist Church, where she was a former member of the church choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.H. Garland, October 21, 2005; by three brothers, Manuel, Robert and Spencer Deloach; and two sisters: Pauline Poole and Ina Mae Deloach.
Survivors include a daughter & son-in-law: Elizabeth & Junior McQueen, Butler; A Son: Bobby Garland, Butler. Four Grandchildren: Todd Garland, Butler, Amy Phillips and her husband, Eddy, Mountain City, Jason McQueen, Butler, and Candice Garland, Elizabethton; Several Nieces & Nephews; Five Sisters-In-Law; Her Special Friends: Bonnie Stout, Grace Glover and Bernice Garland.
Memorial Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in the Little Doe Baptist Church with the Rev. Kreg Smith and Rev. Alan Koch officiating. Music will be provided by the Church Choir. Honorary Pallbearers will be her Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Little Doe Baptist Church. Friends may also call at her residence. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Garland to the Building Fund of Little Doe Baptist Church, 323 Doe Creek Road, Butler, Tenn. 37640. It was her wish to be cremated.
