- Robert L. Tolley
Robert Lee Tolley, 83, 104 Robert Tolley Road, Unicoi, died Sunday,
October 13, 2002 at his residence. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the
late Eli and Minnie Byrd Tolley. He had lived in Unicoi County for the past
40 years. He was retired due to disability from the U.S. Army. He was a member
and deacon of Fairview Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Tolley was preceded in
death by two wives, Bertie Grindstaff Tolley and Irene Matheson Tolley, and
five brothers.
Survivors include six daughters, Patricia Miller, Elizabethton; Gail Storey,
Katherine Lewis, Dorothy Chambers and Linda Sliger, all of Unicoi, and Joyce
Arnett, Roan Mountain; two sons, Charlie Tolley and Roy Tolley, both of
Unicoi; two sisters, Nellie Tolley, Johnson City and Lurlie Bailey, Erwin; three
brothers, Ray Tolley, Hampton; Blake Tolley, Unicoi; and Don Tolley, Johnson
City; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews;
three step-daughters and one step-son. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of
arrangements.
TOLLEY -- Funeral services for Robert Lee Tolley, 83, 104 Robert Tolley
Road, Unicoi, who died Sunday, October 13, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m.
Tuesday, October 15, 2002 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Burnie Jones
officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday,
October 16, 2002 in the Tolley Family Cemetery. The Fairview Quartet will
provide the music. Active pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the cemetery
at 150 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2002 will be Tom Gouge, Larry Tolley,
Elmer Ray Roberts, Jim Carver, David Stonecypher and George Woodby. Honorary
pallbearers will be grandsons, great great grandsons, and grandsons-in-law. The
family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2002 in
the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends
will assemble at the cemetery at 150 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2002.
