- Robert L. Williams. . .
Robert L. Williams, age 82 of Butler Route 1 (Dyson Grove) died in Cannon Memorial Hospital, Banner Elk, N.C. Tuesday at 12:20 a.m. after a lengthy illness. A native of Watauga County, N.C., he had made his home in Johnson County for the past eight years. Mr. Williams was a retired coal miner.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Sallie Williams, Butler; three sons, William I. Williams and Clarence R. Williams, both of Detroit, Mich., and Brady L. Wiliams[sic], Flint Rock, Mich.; three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Hawk of Palmyra, Va., Mrs. Beulah Self, Clinche[sic], Va, Mrs. Dorothy Burton, Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Ben Williams, Butler; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from Dryson Grove Baptist Church Thursday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Clyde Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Mast cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Donald Williams, Micky Williams, W.C. Williams, Ray Williams and Jimmy Williams, and Robert, Kenneth and Garry Self.
The body will remain at the funeral home chapel until 12:00 noon Thursday at which time it will be taken to the church to await the service hour. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7-9 p.m.
