- Thomas Grindstaff - LEXINGTON, N.C.
LEXINGTON, N.C. — Thomas F. Grindstaff, 80, of Brian Center Nursing Home, formerly of Hunter’s Way, died Tuesday morning in the Brian Center Nursing Home after declining health. Mr. Grindstaff was born in Johnson County, TN, on February 9, 1924, to Daniel Grindstaff and Ada Proffitt Grindstaff. Before retiring, he was an auto dealer at Johnson Motor Company and Grindstaff Chevrolet in Mountain City, TN. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Butler, TN. His wife, Thelma Hammons Grindstaff, and sister, Lena Garland, preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughters: Kathy Hinkle and husband, Davis, of Lexington, and Diana Hazelwood, of Marion, Va.; a grandson, Matthew Thomas Hinkle, of Lexington; one granddaughter; a brother, Edward Grindstaff, of Mountain City, TN; sisters: Myrtle Forrester and Leta Lewis, both of Mountain City, TN; a niece, Evelyn Dugger, of Kingsport, TN. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Dr. Ray Howell III and Rev. Tommy Wilson officiating. The body will be at Davidson Funeral Home, however, the family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Kathy Hinkle, 706 Highland Drive, Lexington, N.C.
