- Gerald S. Grindstaff, 65, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord, on Monday, April 17, 2017, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Grindstaff was born in Elizabethton and was the son of the late James B. and Doris Anderson Grindstaff. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathaleen Grindstaff.
Those left to cherish his memory include two brothers, Albert Grindstaff and his wife, Teresita, of Missouri, and Larry Grindstaff of Elizabethton; and an aunt, Mary Anderson, Elizabethton, who was also his best friend and caregiver. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Grindstaff enjoyed listening to music and to ballgames. He was a loving brother and nephew who will be missed by his family.
A service to honor the life of Mr. Grindstaff will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 21, in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Richard Thomason, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from friends and family. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton for all the love and care shown to Mr. Grindstaff and his family.
