- BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. -- Ross Taylor Williams, 87, 35 Meeks Road, Ridgecrest, N.C., died Friday, July 14, 2000.
Mr. Williams was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and a former member of Unaka Avenue Baptist Church in Johnson City, Tenn., where he served as deacon for many years. He retired from Tennessee Eastman in 1975 after 37 years, and was a World War II Veteran and served in the 70th Coast Artillery, U.S. Army, in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Bernice Williams, January 18, 2000; three brothers, Joe, Frank and Harry; and a sister, Nora Alice McAnnis.
Survivors include his son, Dallas P. Williams, daughter-in-law, Debbie Williams, and granddaughter, Nichole Gibbs, all of Asheville; granddaughter, Erin Gaudette and her husband, Greg, and great-grandson, Gage Taylor Gaudette, all of Springfield, Mass.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Wanda Taylor, Elizabethton, Tenn., James R. and Peggy Taylor, Salisbury, and Virginia and Nat Sams, Johnson City, Tenn.; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 16, in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home with Pastor David Webb officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
