  Notes	"The Tomahawk," Wednesday, March 17, 1965 Mrs. Martha E. Shupe. . . Mrs. Martha E. Shupe, age 87 of Mountain City died in Memorial Hospital at Johnson City on Wednesday morning following an extended illness. A native of Johnson County she was the widow of the late James Shupe. Mrs. Shupe was a member of Valley View Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Georgia Gentry, Mountain City; Mrs. H.G. Lewis, Rockfor[sic], Tenn., and Mrs. Ira Floyd of Knoxville; two sons, Frank Shupe of Butler, and Francis Shupe of Norfolk, Va.; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Phillippi, Mountain City; two sisters, Mrs. Josie Forrester, Mountain City and Mrs. Julia Thompson, Portland, Ore. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Tetrick Funeral Home chapel with A.S. Clear officiating. Music was under direction of Miss Ruth Scott, organist and Mr. George Blaylock, soloist. Interment in Phillippi cemetery at Mountain City. Tetrick Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
