- Wilma Engle Bradford, age 83, Erwin, went home Thursday, October 19, 2017 to her precious Lord and Savior where she will sing of His greatness for evermore!
Wilma was a devoted member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church where she led the choir for more than thirty years. Even after her declining health kept her from attending regularly, she always kept up with what was going on, and would always ask, "What did they sing today?" She was so proud of all her "children" in the choir!
Wilma was also known for her ability to recall events and for her hilarious stories. She was also known for her special "sayings" and advice.
Wilma loved her church and she loved her family with all her heart and often spoke of both with pride.
Wilma was the daughter of the late Clyde and Anzo Deyton Engle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Harvey, Leslie and Ed; one sister-in-law, Jeanette; father and mother-in-law, Andy and Pearl Bradford; two brothers-in-law: Doug and Terry Bradford; one nephew, Shaun Bradford.
Left to cherish her memories are her devoted husband of over fifty-six years, Scott Bradford, who cared for her every need; one son, Michael "Mick" Little and wife, Sonya, Middleburg, FL; one daughter, Regina Bradford Harrell and husband, Dwight, Johnson City; two grandsons: Rick, Middleburg, FL, Caleb and wife, Lauren, Chattanooga; five great grandchildren: Kayla, Amber, Victoria, Baylor and Berkley; two brothers-in-law: Duane Bradford and Dennis Portilia; six sisters-in-law: Mary Engle, Dell Engle, Tracy Bradford, Darlene Bradford, Muriel Portilia and Lois Ann Bradford. Wilma also leaves behind a very special friend she loved and considered a granddaughter, Shelby Higgins, who never failed to visit and was by her side to the end. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also remain.
Wilma especially loved her pastor, Kevin Laws and wife, Tiffany and their three precious children, Delancey, Corbin and Ike whom she also considered grandchildren. Also, a very special sister-in-law, Debbie Bradford who lovingly cared for her in the home in recent years.
While she will be greatly missed by her family and friends, all are comforted to know she is singing praises to her King and walking on streets made of gold.
The family also wishes to thank Amedisys Home Health, especially Kristi and Lyndsey whom Wilma loved dearly. The Med-Surge nurses and staff at Franklin Woods Community Hospital, especially Dr. Starr, Lena and Gordon who went above and beyond and so many friends and family for all their love and support. The family also wishes to thank Gertha Laws for her care in recent months.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 P. M. until the hour of service on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Southside Freewill Baptist Church and other times at the residence, 2384 Temple Hill Road, Erwin. Reverend Kevin Laws and Reverend Bernie Jones will officiate at the 7:00 P. M. funeral service. Music will be provided by the church choir and congregation, Jane Ann Williams, Darren Higgins, Bobby Ramsey and Kevin Laws. Active pallbearers will be Deacons of Southside Freewill Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Trustees of Southside Freewill Baptist Church. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Monday in the Evergreen Cemetery.
