- Varden Fox Roller, of 213 Oviedo Street, Gulf Breeze, Florida died Saturday, November 24, 2007 in the Gulf Breeze Hospital after celebrating her 81st birthday November 9th following a courageous battle with cancer. She was a native of Johnson City, TN, but later was a permanent resident of Florida. She was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Rachel Gertrude Lilly Fox. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Jack P. Roller in March of 1996; three sisters, Bessie Halenia, Irene Fox Kissinger and Thelma Fox Price; two brothers, Sherman Francis Fox and Bobby Vernon Fox. Mrs. Roller was a member of the Gulf Breeze Methodist Church and a charter member of the Myrtle Grove Order of the Eastern Star # 302. She was a 1947 graduate of Science Hill High School where she was a member of the band. She married Jack Roller in the early 1950s and lived in Alabama before making their home in Florida in later years. Mrs. Roller was employed as a telephone operator for Inter Mountain Telephone Company while living in Johnson City, but later retired as a consultant for Gulf Power in Florida. Her hobbies, which she celebrated with a free and loving heart, included raising boxer bulldogs, fishing, playing golf and being a huge fan of the University of Tennessee football. Survivors include: two brothers, Bennick W. Ben Fox and his wife Sue, of Johnson City and Clarence L. Fox and his friend and companion Beulah Honeycutt, of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews. The graveside service for Varden Fox Roller will be conducted at 11:30 AM Friday, November 30, 2007 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Rev. Donald Page will officiate. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
