- Eugene “Gene” Markland, 87, Johnson City passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a son of the late Reverend Fred Markland and Minnie Gaddy Markland and also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, James Markland, Bill Markland, Marie Barnett and Louise Howell.
Mr. Markland was a former employee of Bates Auto Parts. He was a wonderful father, a loving grandfather and an avid fisherman. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 67 years, Jackie Slagle Markland; two children, Shelia Stinson and husband, Benny, Freddy Markland and wife, Susi; grandchildren, Anita Sutherland and husband Dewayne, Glynn Stinson and wife, Lisa, Sheilan Tester and husband Robbie, Richard Markland and wife Kristi, Desiree Markland and Brian Reilly; great grandchildren, Ashley, Derek, Meghan, Marlie, Shelbie, Sophie and Khloe; great great grandchild, Rhiley and two brothers John and Robert Markland.
The family will greet guests and share memories from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services, Johnson City. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 PM. Reverend Barry Shepard will officiate. Graveside and committal services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
