- Betty (Moore) Pritchard, 89, of Elizabethton, Tenn., was welcomed home into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Betty was born in Elizabethton to the late Rondy and Callie (Ellis) Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Landon Pritchard; her brother, RJ Moore; and grandmother, Bettie Moore. Betty loved people, entertaining at family gatherings and most of all the Lord and her family. She was a people person that was born with the gift of hospitality and was very generous and loving. Betty was also a hard worker and had milked cows on her family farm – Moore’s Dairy – for more than 25 years and drove a tractor-trailer for more than 20 years. She was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church in Stoney Creek and served as the organist there for many years, sang in the church choir and was part of a trio years ago. Most of all Betty loved her family and cooking for them, making cakes, hosting parties, playing Bingo and playing with her cats. Those left to cherish and remember Betty include her daughters, Nancy (Barry) Taylor, Karen (David) Calloway and Tracy (Alan) Shepard; her grandchildren, Jack (Jodi) Buckles, Misty (Aaron) Lloyd, Jamie (Jared) Garfield, Alan (Tristyl) Shepard Jr. and Rhonda (Andy) Blevins; her great-grandchildren, Madisyn (Josiah), Brayden, Jackson, Carson, Alexis, Camden, Karlee, Bryson, Thomas, Kristen, Mason and Spenser; and a very special friend, Sue Bowers. Several other extended family members that will miss Betty also survive. A celebration of Betty’s life will be conducted at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 8, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Dr. Dennis Deese officiating. A eulogy will be given by Betty’s great-granddaughter, Madisyn Cannon. Special music will be provided by Sue Bowers and Patty Hodge. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, April 10, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Lenny Smith officiating. Active pallbearers will be Aaron Lloyd, Bryson Lloyd, Alan Shepard Jr., Thomas Shepard, Jack Buckles, Brayden Buckles, Jackson Buckles and Carson Buckles. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Miller, Scott Fletcher, Bobby Miller, Gary Clemons and Steve Williams.
