He was a retired carpenter and a veteran of World War II. Mr. Barnett was a member of the Church of Jesus. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mariam Stanfield Barnett; two sons, Lawrence Barnett and Edward K. Barnett of Johnson City; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Garvin of Johnson City, Mrs. Ann Hensley of Knoxville, one brother, John Barnett of Elizabethton; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Swartz of Chattanooga and Mrs. Carrie Swartz of Johnson City, Tennessee.
