- Vina Ruff Black, 78 of Hickory, NC passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 at her residence.
Born October 6, 1936 in Swain County, Whittier, NC she was the daughter of the late James G. Ruff and Carrie Ledford Ruff.
Mrs. Black attends Smarts Grove Baptist Church of Connelly Springs.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry T. Black.
Mrs. Black is survived by 3 sons: Larry Wike and wife Patricia, Randy Watkins and wife Suzanne, Bill Watkins and wife Dian; 2 daughters: Linda Wike, Glorie Buchanan and husband Eddie; a brother, James Ruff, Jr., a sister, Ella Mae Godwin; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; 6 nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 in the chapel of Bass-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 3, 2015 in Gunter Gap Cemetery, Whittier, NC.
