- William was the son of Lilbern Cochran and Rachel Ball
He was the 1st born son of 11 children born to their marriage.
William was a miner and became a mine foreman. He married Ressie Jane Owens in Tazewell County on 6 May 1903.
Ressie and William had several children, including: Clyde Dewey, Marie, Goldie Mae, James Luke, Nora Ruth, Howard Lee, Ethel Oreatha and Robert Van.
Ressie died before William in 1964. Bronchial pneumonia ultimately claimed him in Doctor's Memorial Hospital in Bartley. He is buried beside Ressie in Roselawn Cemetery.
