- Aena Edwards, age 85, Erwin, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday. April 20, 2013, at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Wheeling, WV on November 14, 1927, but had spent most of her life in Erwin. Aena was a daughter of the late Blaine and Ollie Fender Tapp. She was an active member of the Erwin Church of God, as well as the Ruritan of Rock Creek and the Erwin Quilting Club. She enjoyed quilting and reading. She retired from the former Industrial Garment in Erwin where she had worked since she was 16.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Edwards in 1993 and a son, Jimmy Edwards in 2003.She leaves behind:Son: David Edwards and his wife Carole of Unicoi;Daughter: Brenda McInturff and her husband John of Johnson City;Grandchildren: Wendy Pruitt, Stacy Collins, Jeff McInturff, Chastity Keasling, David Edwards, Jr and Chad Edwards12 great grandchildren;Sisters: Dorothy Burrows and Marie White;Several Nieces and Nephews.A funeral service for Aena Edwards will be held at 8:00pm on Monday, April 22, 2013 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home with Bishop John Edwards and Rev. James Hughes officiating. Vocal Selections will be provided by Rev. James Hughes and Rev. Jamie Hughes. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00pm until service time. A graveside committal service will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 11:00am in the McInturff Cemetery, Rock Creek Community, Erwin.
