- Elise Mae Gilliam Osborne, 78, resident of 1467 Highway 66, Whitmire, widow of Jessie Victor "Sonny" Osborne, Sr., died Monday, November 24, 2014 at her home.
Born in Lee County, VA, August 16, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Henry Wayland and Cora Elizabeth Hurd Gilliam. Mrs. Osborne was retired as a chief lot closer from Cone Mills, Carlisle Plant after forty-nine years of service. She was a devout Christian and never missed Rev. Charles Stanley on TV, always taking notes and marking passages throughout her Bible.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Osborne was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Victor "Dopey" Osborne, Jr.; three sisters, Thelma Cole, Dorothy Puckett and Sara Ruth Gilliam; and a brother, Darrell W. Gilliam.
Survivors include a son, Dan "Boone" Osborne and wife Ruth Ann of Mountain City, TN; a daughter, Kelly Osborne of Clinton; four grandchildren, Sara Elizabeth Osborne Stout and husband Billy Jack of Mt. City, TN, Adrienne Jo Osborne Hearl and husband Don of Piney Flats, TN and Carly Maude Osborne and Jesse Victor "Jesus" Osborne, III, both of Whitmire; four great-grandchildren, Trenton Caleb Winebarger of Boone, NC, Daniel Evans Hearl of Piney Flats, TN and Haeleigh Evan Thompson and Jace Marshall Stout, both of Mt. City, TN; two sisters, Laura Ethel Griffin of Hickory Tavern and Celestene "Tenny" Privett and husband Charles of Simpsonville; and a sister-in-law who was like a sister, Gloria Gilliam of Whitmire.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 PM from Whitmire Pentecostal Holiness Church with Reverend Eddie Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Whitmire Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dan Osborne, Jesse Osborne, III, Don Hearl, Billy Jack Stout, Kevin Boyter and Bobby Senn.
