- Paul Samuel Winters, 73, of Hickory, died Monday July 17 2006 at his residence. Born September 18, 1933 in Ashe County, he was a son of Charles Samuel Winters and Minnie Dora Perry Winters. He was a member of Fellowship Advent Christian Church in Taylorsville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Jean Rupard Winters; two brothers, William Edward Winters and Harley Worth Winters and one sister Ethyl Elizabeth Arnold. Surviving are special friend Mary Ellen Benfield; two sons and daughter-in-law Phillip K & Shelia Winters of Taylorsville and Gary Lee Winters of Conover; four sisters, Bessie Alice Laws, Flora Mae Costner Loney, Pauline Greer and Bertie Ruth Eastridge; seven grandchildren whom were the light of his life, Faustena Prystup, Christopher Winters, Colby Winters, Rick Scott, Danny Miller, Cassie Wilson and Alicia Winters
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday July 19, 2006 at Bass-Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Receiving will be held from 5:30- 7:00 pm before the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Graveside service will be held Thursday, July 20, 2006 at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, VA. Bass-Smith Funeral Home is serving the Winters family.
