- Zetta Mae Edwards Carter, age 81, resident of U.C.M.H. Long Term Care Facility formerly of 108 Old Asheville Highway, Erwin, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care. She was a native of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Roscoe R. and Dullie L. Crain Edwards. Zetta was a loving homemaker. She was a member of Higgins Chapel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bryan E. Carter; step-son, Frankie N. Carter; brothers, John David Edwards and wife, Lou Fender Edwards, and Vestil C. Edwards, and Jerry R. Edwards; sisters-in-law, Nina Ruth Stout Edwards; niece, Brenda Kay Edwards; nephews, James Donald Edwards, Anthony T. Edwards, and Larry Edwards.
Zetta has left behind to cherish her memoires:

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Zetta Mae Edwards Carter in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM, Friday, April 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Edward Hoyle will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by the Higgins Chapel Baptist Church. A visitation period to share memoires and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and continue until service time on Friday at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Higgins Chapel Cemetery. Those who wish to attend will meet at 10:30 AM, Saturday at Valley Funeral Home to go in procession to the cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Cole, Norman Edwards, Doug Edwards, Gary Carter, and Nicholas Meadows. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Banks, Nick Banks, Tyler Cole and men of the Church.
