- Louise Holman Guy, 97, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 13, 2022, at her residence. Louise was born May 5, 1925 in Avery County, N.C., to the late William Reece Holman and Loretta Pearl Blackburn Holman. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her son, Donald Edward Guy; two brothers, Howard Holman and Edward Holman; and four sisters, Virginia Maude Holman, Georgia Scott, Ina Ruth Byrd and Emma Jean Blevins.
Louise retired from the Carter County Health Department where she had worked as a clerk and dental assistant for over 30 years. Louise was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church and enjoyed cooking, canning, quilting, crafting and her family was her greatest joy!
Those left to cherish Louise’s many wonderful memories include her children, Patsy Holtsclaw, Glenn R. Guy and wife Betty Jane, Kenneth E. Guy and wife Zelma, Betty S. Vaughn and Elizabeth Guy; her grandchildren, Kelly Holtsclaw, Keith Holtsclaw, Keri Holtsclaw Miller, Chris Guy and wife Debbie, Missy Guy, Brian Guy, Scott Guy, Travis Guy, Shane Vaughn and Tracy Vaughn; 13 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Shirley Smith and husband Sidney. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Louise’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. David Seibenaler officiating. Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Smith and Shannon Smith.
