- Mr. Marion Jessie Linville, 77, died Thursday, December 4, 1997 at the Johnson
City Medical Center.
Mr. Linville was a lifelong Unicoi County resident and a son of the late Nate
D. and Bessie Tapp Linville. He served as a Seaman II Class with the United
States Navy during World War II, while stationed in San Leandro, California.
He retired from Kloppers, Baltimore, Maryland as a machinist following 40
years of service. Mr. Linville was a member of Centenary United Methodist
Church, Erwin where he served in various offices of the church, including
serving on the Board of Trustees for several years.
Mr. Linville was preceded in death by one son, Marion Dennis Linville, on May
14, 1989. Survivors include his wife, Daphne Bellamy Linville; one daughter
and son-in-law, Linda and Robert "Bob" Meil, Westminster, Maryland; one son
and daughter-in-law, Joseph E. and Patricia Linville, Westminster, Maryland;
six sisters, Mrs. Lucille Piercy, Burnsville, North Carolina; Mrs. Margaret
Ann Yeager, Knoxville; and Mrs. Marie Ramsey, Mrs. Betty Black, Mrs. Eula Mae
Tipton, and Mrs. Kaye McInturff, all of Unicoi; three brothers, Robert C.
Linville, H.C. Linville, and James Linville, all of Unicoi; seven
grandchildren, Denise Stansburg, David Linville, Barbara Hunter, Susan Oak,
Deborah Owens, Julie Ann Linville, and Rebecca Linville; six great-
grandchildren, Robert Bromwell, Brad Bromwell, Richard Hunter, David Owens,
Megan Owens and Kelly Linville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
