- Chester A. Reece, age 81, of Trade, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at his residence with his family by his side.
Chester was born on May 31, 1929, In Watauga County North Carolina to the late Don and Pearl Brown Reece. In addition to his parents, Chester was preceded in death by brothers, C.G. Reece and Jack Reece, mother-in-law Iva Lee Potter.
Chester was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp, lifetime member of the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 50 year member of the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge, 50 year member of the Maple Chapter of the Eastern Star. He was a UT football fan, had a love for farming. He was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the building committee, and former Sunday school superintendent. Chester loved his family and will be truly missed.
Chester is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bernice Potter Reece of Trade. two sons, Mike Reece and Wife Lisa of Aledo, TX, Greg Reece and wife Lisa of Trade. Six grandchildren, Susan Reece of Jacksonville Florida, Grant and Alex Reece of Aledo, TX, Allyson, Abby, and Anna Reece of Trade. Two sisters, Helen Wilson of Stuarts Draft, VA, Joan Johnson and husband, Jerry of Trade. Two sisters-in-law, Francis Reece of Evans, GA, Margie Reece of Ravenna, OH. Several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 11, 2010, from 6-8:00 p.m. from Mountain City Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. from Mountain City Funeral Home with Bro., Derick Wilson to officiate. Music by Tony and Cheri Potter. Pallbearers, Paul Anderson, Willie Debord, Ed Hoak, Mark Wallace, Doug McFadden, and Odell Johnson. Honorary pallbearers, members and former members of the Johnson County Rescue Squad, Hill Ward, James Lefler, Earl Bumgardner, Grayson Trivette, and George Main.
Entombment will follow from the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum with Masonic Service.
