Bennick “Ben” W. Fox, 87, 1805 Port Circle Dr., Johnson City, died Friday, March 30, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.
Ben was a Johnson City native and a son of the late Lloyd and Gertrude Lilly Fox.
He was a longtime employee of S.B. White, where he retired as a plumber.
Ben was a member of Skyline Heights Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the East Tennessee Antique Engine Association.
Following his retirement, he enjoyed building models of local area Grist Mills and was once featured on WJHL’s Cable Country.
Ben was a former member of a western style Square Dancing Club.
He loved camping and feeding the birds.
In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by an infant son; two brothers, Sherman and Bob Fox; four sisters, Irene Kissinger, Thelma Price, Varden Roller and an infant.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-eight years, Sue Reed Fox; his step-daughter, Cynthia Dison and husband, Larry, whom he thought of and loved as his own daughter and son-in-law, their children, Torey Crane, Parker Dison and Molly Dison, whom he thought of and loved as his own grandchildren; five step-sons and their families; his daughter, Melissa Fox Peters and husband, Charles, their children, Laura and Christopher; one brother, Clarence Fox and companion, Beulah Honeycutt; several nieces, nephews and friends, including special friend, Bill Sells; and Ben’s “girls,” cats Callie, Sandy, Sissy and Jade.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Drs. Farrow and Merrifield.
The graveside funeral service will be held Sunday, April 1, 2012, at 3:00 P.M. in Monte Vista Memorial Park with Rev. Donald L. Page officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the East Tennessee Antique Engine Association, Dr. Jeff Farrow and Dr. Angela Merrifield.
