- Lester Hickman Childs, 76, of Bristol, Tennessee passed away on July 8, 2007 in Broadmore Assisted Living of Bristol. He was born on January 8, 1931 to the late Lester Childs, Sr. and Rachel Hodges Childs. Lester made his home in Bluff City with his wife Jill and worked with the Job Corps at Jacobs Creek until he retired in 1990. In addition to his parents, Mr. Childs was preceded in death by his wife, Jill Bowman Childs in 2003; his brother-in-law, Charles H. Hammond; and his nephew, Charlie Hammond.
Survivors include his sister, Betty Childs Hammond of Mobile, Alabama; three cousins, Jessie Kryder and her husband Bill of Anniston, Alabama, Bob S. Hodges and his wife Marlana of Seneca, South Carolina and Ward Manley and his wife Audrey of Barwick, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Ann Bowman Blizzard and her husband Marvin; one nephew, Robert Blizzard; one niece, Betsy Hammond Wilson and her husband Ken of Carrollton, Georgia; three great nephews, Chris Hammond of Warren, Ohio, and Kether Wilson and Micah Wilson of Carrollton, Georgia; one great niece, Rachel Wilson of Carrollton, Georgia; several extended family members and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 O'Clock Thursday morning, July 12, 2007at Broadmore Assisted Living, 826 Meadow View Road, Bristol, Tennessee with Rev. Sam Haynes officiating. The committal service and entombment will be conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Heritage Chapel of Memories of Glenwood Cemetery.
