- Reverend Thomas William Shell, 83, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, February 22, 2015 at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. Reverend Shell was born in Johnson City on February 7, 1932 to the late Thomas William Shell, Sr and Disa Watson Shell Conroy. He was also preceded in death by his son, Thomas Shell. Reverend Shell was a US Air Force Korean War veteran.
He was a retired Baptist minister and had pastored several churches in IL, OH and Maine. He served as interim pastor in Wise and Hurley VA and at Snow Memorial Baptist Church in Johnson City. He also had his own ministry “Revival Ministries for Today” that broadcast across Canada and the northern tier states. Reverend Shell was a member of Skyline Heights Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 62 years, Eleanor Shell; one daughter, Barbara Finney, Naporville, IL; one son, Michael Shell, Jonesborough; grandchildren, Thomas Shell and Angela Rade both of IL, Dustin Shell and wife, Lacey, Nashville, TN and Kristen and Zackary Shell both of Jonesborough; great grandchildren, Kristopher Shell, Macey Shell, Cailey Rade and Isobel Rade and many friends. The family will greet guests and share memories from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services, Johnson City. A military committal service will be held at 2:30 pm at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Kingsport VFW and Reverend Don Page officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
