8351 There are census, birth, marriage and death records which provide circumstantial evidence that John DeLoach, son of Silas DeLoach, is the same John R. "J. R." DeLoach that married Maria Minnie "Mina" Barnett in Fannin County, Texas, returned to Madison County, Tennessee, and probably died there before 1900.

Marriage Record: John R. DeLoach married Mina Barnett on 28 May 1886 in Fannin County, Texas.

Tax Record: J. R. DeLoach was listed on the 1886 Fannin County, TX tax list.

Birth Record: Peter S. DeLoach was born in Fannin County, TX on 25 Jul 1887. Parents were listed as John DeLoach and Mina Barnett.

Death Record: Peter Si DeLoach was born in Fannin County, Texas on 25 Jul 1887, died in Fannin County, Texas on 6 Mar 1972. Informant was Mr. J. R. DeLoach.
Peter named a son after his father and a daughter after his mother. The son's name was John Robert DeLoach.

Death Record: Fannie DeLoach Minnick was born in Tennessee on 21 Feb 1893. Parents were listed as John DeLoach and Mina Barnett.

Death Record: Janie DeLoach Ward was born in Tennessee on 14 Apr 1895. Parents were listed as John DeLoach and Nina Barnett.

Court Reccords: There was a John DeLoach listed in the Madison County, TN Quarterly Court Minutes Books, Oct 1893.

8352 There are conflicting data with Nancy's death date, as family records list the birth of their sixth child, Mary Ann Bacon, on 15 Jul 1819. Given that many sources also confuse the death date of her husband, John, on either 11 or 14 Sep 1857, it is apparent that the likely source of the confusion is a worn '4' appearing as a '1'. Family records list Nancy's death date as 8 Sep 1847 rather than 1817, which also makes her birth date (abt. 1781 if she was 66) more in line with her husband, who is listed as age 80 when he died in 1857, making his birth date abt. 1776/1777. Historically and culturally, this would make much more sense than John marrying a woman who was born in 1751 and would have been about age 52 for the birth of her first child and age 68 at the birth of her last child. Broyles, Nancy Elizabeth (I74950)

8353 There are reports from Roscoe DeLoach, Sr., and Charlotte Lance DeLoach that Margaret Atkins was married prior to wedding Nathan DeLoach.

In the 1840 Carter County census, there is a Margaret King who is the head of this household:

Margaret King Males 1(0-5), 1(10-15)
Females 1(0-5), 1(5-10), 1(20-30), 1(70-80)

In the 1850 Carter County Census listing for the Nathan DeLoach household, Joseph L. King, 9 years old, is listed following Nathan's sons Samuel and William. Margaret is 38. There is another King household in the 1850 Carter County census:

Albert S. King 25 VA
Elizabeth King 17 VA

Unlike the other households, this one does not have a marriage date listed, which would leave you to be believe that Albert and Elizabeth are siblings. If Margaret were the mother of Albert, Elizabeth and Joseph, she would only be 13 years older that Albert. Perhaps she was the second wife to the father of Albert and Elizabeth. So, all of this leaves open the questions, is this the same Margaret that married Nathan DeLoach, and if so, who was her first husband and what happened to him?

In 1860, Joseph King is living with Mary Kendrick, and Albert King appears to be married to a 40 year old Nancy..
Adkins, Margaret (I3192)

8354 There are several family papers stating James F. DeLoach was born in Talbot, Ga. The census or Enumeration of Confederate Soldiers Residing in Alabama in 1907 sates he was born in Marion Co., Ga. They were in Talbot Co., Ga. at census time in 1840. DeLoach, James Fredic (I22667)

8355 There are some researchers who believe that Fanny Carter was a sister of Landon C. Carter, and the daughter of John Carter. The Carter family were early settlers of Northeastern Tennessee. Carter, Virginia Frances "Fanny" (I5392)

8356 There are two pre-1900 Carter County, TN marriage records for *a* James Beck:
Sarah Emeline Harden, married 18 Sep 1898
Sallie Turner, married 16 Oct 1898
James is listed as a widower on the 1900 Carter County, TN Census.

James Beck married Maggie S. Cole on 29 Aug 1902

8357 There is a marriage record in Carter County of Phebe Richardson marrying William Moreland on 31 Dec 1856. In the 1850 Carter County Census, there is a James and Susannah Meredith living in the household of Wright Moreland, William's father. Meredith, Pheboe (I3524)

8360 There was a marriage between James Arnold and Mary Day in Ashe County, NC on 2 Feb 1856. James Arnold and Joseph Ashley were the bondsman. Mary Ann Ashley was 21 years old in the 1850 Ashe County, NC Census. It is possible that Mary Ann Ashley married a Day between 1850 and 1856.

The 1850 and 1860 Ashe County, NC Census records state that James Arnold was born in Tennessee. Half of the death records of his children state that he was born in Tennessee and the other half say North Carolina.
Arnold, James P. (I77912)

8361 There was an Archibald Dishman listed in the 1860 Fentree County, TN census at the same time that this Archibald Dishman was listed in the 1860 Iredell County, TN census. Some researchers have erroneously merged the two into the same person. Dishman, Arch (I34683)

8362 There was only one Jones family listed in the 1840 Carter County, TN Census, that of Frederick Jones. In the 1850 Carter County, TN Census, it shows that he was born in New York, and his family born in Tennessee. Jones, Elizabeth (I32348)

8363 There were no children listed for them on the 1930 census. Mayfield, George (I32927)

8364 There were two Eliza DeLoaches who could have married George W. Hardin. Elizabeth DeLoach Born about 1851 Daughter of ThomasDeLoach & Perlina Oliver Ann Elizabeth DeLoach Born about 1860 Daughter of John DeLoach and Susannah Oliver Carter County Census records for 1860 and 1870 show: 1860 1870 In Thomas DeLoach Elizabeth 9 Elizabeth 16 Household In John/Susannah DeLoach---- Ann 10 Household The following marriage record was listed for Carter County: Eliza DeLoach to George W. Hardin 9 March 1879 The 1880 and 1900 Carter County Census lists: 1880 1900Harden George 34 George Dec 1844 55 Adaliza 19 Eliza Feb 1859 41 Isaac H. 7/12 The death record for Ann Elizabeth reads: Adiline Hardin, age 72, died 1 April 1914. Parents were John DeLoach and Susan Oliver. Buried in Siam. Informant was G.W. Hardin. Record #91, 1914. Although the spelling and form of the name is inconstant, it appears that her name was Ann Eliazbeth, with nicknames of Eliza, Adaliza and Adiline. This inconsistency could also be explained by the difficulty of reading the handwriting on the faded records. Family: George W. Hardin / Ann Elizabeth "Adeline" DeLoach (F755)

8365 There were two persons named John H. Arnold. The first was a son of Meredith Dugger Arnold, and was born in about . He appeared in the 1850 Johnson County, TN census as an 11 year old son of Meredith. He could not be identified in subsequent census records for Johnson County, meaning he either moved out of the county, or that he died.
The second John H. Arnold appears in the 1860 Johnson County census as a 5 year old member of Meredith Dugger's household. In this listing, he is placed out of birth year sequence, and is listed at the bottom. In the 1870 census, he is listed as 15 year old John H. McQueen in the household of Clara McQueen, who is the daughter of Meredith D. Arnold. Clara had married Wiley A. McQueen on 7 Oct 1860 following the 1860 census. Their daughter Hannah is also listed in the Clara Arnold McQueen's 1870 household. Since the marriage of Clara Arnold to Wiley A. McQueen follows the birth of John H. Arnold by five years, it is uncertain who his father is.

8376 This family has been created as a means of grouping the ARNOLD families who lived in Johnson County, Tennessee, in the early 1800s. The approximate dates of birth for these ARNOLDs is such that it appears that they are siblings. It is possible that these ARNOLD families are related to John ARRENDELL and his wife Mary. However, they were not mentioned in his will, and it appears that the ARRENDELLs took great care to mentionall of their children in their wills. In viewing the 1830 Carter County Census, which included all of Johnson County (founded in 1836), it also appears that more of the ARNOLD families lived in Carter County, while all of the ARRENDELLs lived in what would become Johnson County. Arnold, Unknown (I8446)
