Written: July 27, 1903

In the name of God, Amen. I Lawrence Pearson of Altamaha, Tattnall County,
Georgia, being sound in body and mind, and desirous of arranging my earthly
affairs after my death do make publish and declare this my last will and
testament. To my wife E. E. Pearson, I give and bequeath our buggy now in my
possession, and one horse, if she does not receive the horse during my
lifetime. I direct my executor to furnish her one out of the funds of my
estate. I further direct that after the above bequest all the property of
which I may die possessed shall be valued and divided among my legal heirs as
follows: my wife E. E. Pearson, my two daughters S. E. Phillips and M. C.
Griner, my son J. L. Pearson, and the children of my deceased daughter Annie
E. Roberson. The children of my deceased daughter Annie E. Roberson to share
alike what would have been their mother's distributive share in my estate, and
not per capita. The others mentioned share and share to each in as much as I
have heretofore made an advance of four hundred and fifty dollars to my
youngest son J. L. Pearson it is my wish and desire that he should be charged
with such division so as to make the amount received by any other children
equal to the amount received by him. The bequest herein made to my wife is in
lieu of dower and years supply. It is my will and desire that if she be living
at my death she shall take a child's share in my estate should she not be
living at the time of my death then this bequest to be extinct and my estate
to be divided between my children as hereinbefore directed. Having given my
son John A. Pearson a place absolutely after my death by conveyance which has
been delivered I leave him no bequest under this will. It is my request,
though this bequest is not mandatory, that he make the shares distributed to
the other children equal to the interest received by him. Such distribution to
be left to his own good judgment and sense of justice and rightly as to
valuation. I nominate and appoint my son John Ash Pearson executor of this my
will reposing special confidence in him I hereby relieve said executor from
making or filing any inventory or appraisement or schedule and I further
relieve said executor from making annual returns to any court whatsoever. I
further authorize this division of my real and personal property in kind if
desired by a majority of the legatees at interest or upon their failure to
agree to such division in kind I authorize and empower my said executor to
sell any and all property of which I may die possessed without order of court
either at public or private sale at such time and place as he may see fit
applying the proceeds as hereinbefore directed. For the purpose of carrying
out the bequest herein made to my grandchildren, the issue of my deceased
daughter Annie E. Roberson, I constitute and appoint my son John A. Pearson
testamentary Guardian for said minor children with full power to use and
expend the bequest herein made for the maintainance and education of said
minor children as he may in his good judgment think will be proper and I
hereby relieve said John A. Pearson from making returns as such Guardian for
said minor children. In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed
my seal this the 27th day of July 1903 in the fear of God and in the presence
of the witnesses hereafter subscribed.

8141 Source: John H. Jessee [PO Box 102, Sugar Grove, VA 24375] wrote, 3/25/2001, with this very important information both correcting and providing additional information for the descendants of William Vincent Jessee, Jr. son of William Vincent Jessee, son of Archer Jessee. William Vincent Jessee, Jr. married RebeccaStinson, daughter of Edward Stinson and Jennie Burk, daughter of William Burk and Rebecca Jessee. This is also a delightful letter full of family stories.
This letter is in part a response to an article by Frederick Alan Jessee in theJuly 2000 issue of the Jessee Newsletter. On page sixteen of the newsletter isan article that refers to William Vincent Jessee Jr. and his relationship to Frederick Alan Jessee and other family members. Several errors were made in thisarticle with references to dates and relationships. I would like to provide corrections to this article to the best of my ability. Organizing an informative and correct genealogy record of numerous family members can be difficult. I behave we have many serious researchers that have spent innumerable hours researching to satisfy their own interest, and to provide information to others if requested. Therefore, I presume, when apparent errors have been made and published, that anyone having access to the correct information should make an effort to provide the corrections. In doing so I hope my actions will not be offensive toanyone.
Beginning with the first sentence of the article, the relationship ofWilliam Vincent Jessee Jr to Frederick Alan Jessee would be great great grandfather rather than great grandfather- Frederick Alan great grandfather would have been Edward Thomas Jessee. Edward Thomas Jessee, (b. 1878 d. 1955) was one ofthree children resulting from the marriage of William Vincent Jessee Jr. to Rebecca Stinson. William Vincent Jessee Jr. was born in Russell County in 1848 and died in Russell County in 1936. His first marriage was to Rebecca Stinson (b.1846 d. 1903). William Vincent Jessee's second marriage was to Maragerine Mullins in 1905. Maragerine Mullins was born in 1905 and died in 1931. She was the daughter of John Mullins of Dickenson County, Virginia.
I behave I can speak with certainty regarding the references made to Kemper Jessee. Kemper Jessee wasmy father and his name was Kemper Gilmer Jessee rather than Kemper John Jessee, He was the son of Edward Thomas Jessee and Harriet Virginia Rasnake Jessee (b. 1876 d. 1964). My Father was born in Russell County in 1904 and died in Tazewell County in 1987. He married my mother, Laura Belle Buckles Jessee in 1925. My mother was born in Russell County in 1907 and is the daughter of John Buckles(1875-1954) and Alpha Jessee Buckles (1884-I953).
My mother was ninety-four years of age on the sixteenth of March two thousand and one. I was able to talk with her on that date and during our conversation I ask her about her Grandmother Buckles. She, without any hesitation in the conversation, proceeded to tell me about my great grandmother and several other family members. My mother informed me that My great grandmother's name was Mary Taze Cowan prior to her marriage to my great grandfather Charles Buckles and that Charles Buckles father's name was Abraham Buckles. Mother said that her father's full name was John Taze Buckles and that he had been given his mother's middle name. Without the slightest hesitation that some of a lesser age, including myself, would find necessaryto remember a name, she told me that my great grandmother's father's name wasCharles Cowan. Several other Cowan names were mentioned, but I was unable, dueto the excitement of the birthday event, to make the other Cowan family connections. Some of Cowan names mentioned were Sally, Sally Wool and Mary Elizabeth.
After all the incredible name remembering my mother hesitated, laughed almostsilently and said she would never forget the story grandma had told her when she was a child about grandma's elopement with Gra

8146 SPRINGFIELD, VA - Anna “Ann” Elizabeth Bowman Blizard of Springfield, Virginia passed away on Sunday, August 7. She had just celebrated her 85th birthday two weeks after experiencing a major stroke in July.

Raised in Johnson City in the 1940s and 1950s, Ann lived in the Washington area since 1960 after marrying Marvin Blizard in Johnson City. He then worked for the Naval Research Laboratory in the District of Columbia, and they settled in the Eastover area of Southwest Washington. During that time, she worked as a nurse for a doctor’s office in that city.

Eventually, Ann and Marvin moved to Annandale, Virginia. While living there, the couple’s son, Robert, was born at Fairfax Hospital. In 1964, they moved to the Ravensworth Farm neighborhood of Springfield, Virginia; they were original owners who lived there for the rest of their lives. Marvin, who spent most of his career with the Office of Naval Research, passed away in June 2021 at age 85.

Ann was born in Jacksonville Beach, Florida and lived for a while as a toddler in Norfolk, Virginia. She and her only sibling Jill were then brought to live with their aunt, Beatrice Bowman, and grandmother, Anna Smithson, in the historic Montrose Court apartment building in Johnson City. The sisters graduated from Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State College (now University), where she was in the Sigma Kappa sorority. Ann majored in nursing and became a registered nurse. She met Marvin while at East Tennessee State. Later, Ann obtained her master’s degree in psychology from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia and then worked for many years as a nurse in an Annandale doctor’s office.

Survived by her son, Ann survived her younger sister Jill, who passed away in 2003 in Bluff City, Tennessee. She and Marvin took care of Jill and her husband Les Childs until they died, as well as other relatives in their final days. Her interests included travel, cooking, movies, crossword puzzles, and pets. She had been a den mother for Cub Scouts and a room mother at Ravensworth Elementary School.
