She then married James Godsey in 1907. Obituaries are from the Johnson City Staff News Friday 1/7/1927 and the Johnson City Chronicle Saturday 1/8/1927. Both obituaries read as follows: "Mrs. Laura Godsey, 52, suffered a fatal stroke of paralysis at her home 1123 East Watauga avenue, at midnight, Thursday night. Death was almost instantaneous. Funeral services are to be conducted on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. W. P. Walker in charge, and followed by burial in Monte Vista Burial Park. The services will be at the Second Christian Church, on East Unaka Ave. Mrs. Godsey had been a resident of Johnson City for many years and was well and favorably known by the people generally. She is survived by her husband, James Godsey and eight children, all living in Johnson city: Albert, Robert, Pink, Ray, James and Paul Godsey; and Mrs. Mabel Kennedy and Mrs. Beatrice Young. Her father, Robert Rose is also living; also four sister; Mrs. French Auville of Yeager, W VA., Mrs G. T. She was a member of the Beta Theta Women’s Club of Johnson County, and she was voted “Mother of the Year” award in 1989 by the Butler Ruritan.
