"Mrs. Laura Godsey, 52, suffered a fatal stroke of paralysis at her home 1123 East Watauga avenue, at midnight, Thursday night. Death was almost instantaneous.
Funeral services are to be conducted on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. W. P. Walker in charge, and followed by burial in Monte Vista Burial Park. The services will be at the Second Christian Church, on East Unaka Ave. Mrs. Godsey had been a resident of Johnson City for many years and was well and favorably known by the people generally. She is survived by her husband, James Godsey and eight children, all living in Johnson city: Albert, Robert, Pink, Ray, James and Paul Godsey; and Mrs. Mabel Kennedy and Mrs. Beatrice Young. Her father, Robert Rose is also living;
also four sister; Mrs. French Auville of Yeager, W VA., Mrs G. T. Case, Mrs. Will Combs and Mrs. Thomas Hauk, of Johnson City; also two brothers, Leslie Rose and Roy Rose of Johnson City."

Mrs. Cameron was a graduate of Science Hill High School. She had lived in Glen Burnie, Md., for 29 years before moving to Orlando in 1978. She retired as a clerk with the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Glen Burnie, where she had been employed for 29 years. She was a member of the Conway United Methodist Church of Orlando.

Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, July 10, at Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Graveside services and interment were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

8025 She was the daughter of the late Ed Dugger and Dorothy Pierce Dugger Oliver. She was married to the late J.E. Arnold on June 27, 1947, who was her husband for 36 years. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Michael (Mick) Oliver, Ron Oliver and Bill Dugger.

She was an active member of Little Doe Baptist Church. She was a member of the Beta Theta Women’s Club of Johnson County, and she was voted “Mother of the Year” award in 1989 by the Butler Ruritan.

She was a hard worker along side her husband on the farm until his death. She then worked at Lakecrest Grill, Pleasant’s Store, T & J’s Grill and Craig’s Coffee House.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alta Kathleen Garrison, 90, 119 School House Road, Elizabethton, who died Monday, November 5, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, November 8, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Clay Bailey and Mr. Don Rutherford, ministers, officiating. Music will be provided by Joel Crisp. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, November 9, at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

Mrs. Edens had lived most of her life in Elizabethton. She was retired from Pharmacil-Baxter Corporation in Johnson City and was presently employed as a Food Sampler at Food City. She was a member of West Side Christian Church and the Women's Fellowship Sunday School Class where she had served as president for several years.

Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2002 at Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Graveside services and interment were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

Burial followed the service in Happy Valley Memorial Park.

Mrs. McCloud was a retired waitress from Dino's Restaurant. She and her late husband formerly operated the Shamrock and Sunset Inn Restaurants for a number of years. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene.

Graveside services were conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Carl Trivett in 1987; three brothers, George, Elmer and Delmer Sutherland; one grandson, Gregory Campbell; two great grandsons, Kelly Barker and A.J. McNeal, and one great granddaughter, Shania McNeal.

She retired as an LPN from Carter County Memorial Hospital.

She was an active member of the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center. She gained many close friends over the years while attending activities sponsored by the Senior Center. She enjoyed volunteering and helping others.

She was a member of Gap Creek Christian Church, Elizabethton.

Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2004 in Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Graveside services and burial were held at noon Tuesday, January 20, 2004 in Happy Valley Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hyder was a member of Roan Street Freewill Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Texas Instruments.

Mrs. Garrison was the Oldest Member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Naomi Garrison, 91, were conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at Dungan Chapel Baptist Church.

She was an Electronics Engineer at Texas Instruments, from where she retired after many years.

Virginia was a member of East Watauga Avenue Baptist Church.
